HISTORY:
Connor was born in November, 2001 to Darla and Angel – two vampires. This was a shock, since vampires couldn’t typically have children in the natural way. After the death of Darla during childbirth, Angel took Connor in and cared for him with the help of his team. Shortly after Connor was born he was kidnapped and taken to the hell-dimension Quor’Toth. He grew up in that dimension, where he was raised by Daniel Holtz.
Life in Quor’Toth was difficult. From a young age, Connor was trained to be a warrior. He had to fight for survival on a regular basis and Holtz frequently told Connor stories about his real father, Angelus. Over the years Connor developed a strong hatred for Angel based on what Holtz told him. When Connor was eighteen he fought his way into his home dimension, popping up in the lobby of the Hyperion Hotel, where he attacked Angel.
There was a period of adjustment for everyone as the team tried to help Connor adapt to living in his home dimension. Eventually he became a part of Angel Investigations and seemed to be doing well adjusting to his new life. However, when Holtz was murdered (seemingly by Angel), Connor used his position within the team to get rid of Angel discreetly without attracting suspicion. Rather than killing Angel, Connor sunk him to the bottom of the ocean in a steel coffin. While the team searched for Angel and Cordelia, who had also gone missing, Connor maintained his position within the group and continued to be a trusted and useful member of A.I.
After Angel was rescued by Wesley, his return caused a lot of tension toward Connor from the whole team. Connor left A.I. and went out on his own, patrolling the city at night and helping the helpless in his own way on his own terms. He lived like a vagrant, squatting in abandoned buildings and such. Despite his behavior toward his father, Angel kept an eye on Connor and the two slowly began to bond while remaining wary of one another.
When Cordelia returned with amnesia she ended up staying with Connor. He explained anything she wanted to know about her life candidly and honestly, which she respected. He also began training her to defend herself. Cordelia was the first person Connor was able to form an emotional attachment to and they became romantically involved. This led to Cordelia becoming pregnant with Connor’s child.
A powerful creature called The Beast rose from Connor’s birthplace, which made Connor feel somehow responsible for its arrival. Angel willingly lost his soul as part of a strategy calling for Angelus to fight The Beast. Rather than restoring his soul, Connor attempted to kill Angelus and was stopped by Faith.
It was discovered that Cordelia had been possessed by a powerful entity from the time of her return. The birth of the child was actually this being manifesting in this world in order to gain control of it. Her name was Jasmine, and she’d spent years orchestrating events in order to return, including the birth of Connor.
Jasmine’s presence created peace on earth for everyone but Connor, who felt a great deal of despair and loneliness. However, he pretended to feel the same peace and joy everyone else was feeling, not knowing what else to do. Knowing that his entire existence was made up of lies took a toll on his already unstable mind and he ended up in a downward spiral. Angel eventually broke Jasmine’s hold on the world by revealing her true name. Connor was able to kill Jasmine in her vulnerable state, but this act sent him over the edge. He attempted to kill himself, Cordelia and a number of others by crafting a bomb.
Angel made a deal with Wolfram and Hart to give Connor a new life as a normal happy teenager with no memory of his real life. Angel agreed to take over the L.A. branch of the law firm and he killed Connor so he could be reborn in a new life. For the most part, Angel was the only one who retained his memories of Connor, though there are some exceptions.
The life Connor is now rooted in is the one he received from Wolfram and Hart. He was born to Laurence and Colleen Reilly and he had a normal, happy childhood full of love. He had a little sister and they had a normal love/annoy relationship. He went to school, he had friends and girlfriends, he excelled in academics and he was an intelligent, well-adjusted teenager.
When he was eighteen he was hit by a van, but was not seriously injured. This event led to his parents seeking out Angel, formerly the boss of Angel Investigations, to see if he could shed some light on the situation. Angel refused to help the Reilly family and sent them away. However, the family was later attacked by demons and Connor was able to defeat them through an alarming display of strength. Angel then informed Connor of his special abilities, but did not tell him that he was Connor’s real father.
It was revealed that the sorcerer who gave Connor his new life wanted Connor to fulfill a prophecy that said he would kill a demon called Sahjhan. Connor had no choice but to agree to fight Sahjhan. As he was fighting a losing battle, Wesley had started to become suspicious of Angel after learning that Illyria’s memories of Fred’s life had been altered. Wesley destroyed the artifact housing Connor’s original existence, which restored the altered memories. This allowed Connor to defeat Sahjhan, but returned the memories of his traumatized existence. He parted ways with Angel and the team, going back to his adoptive parents.
Angel contacted Connor on the day of his final battle with the Senior Partners. He and Connor had a conversation and Connor revealed that he knew Angel was his father and that he was grateful for the life he had given him. However, he did not want to involve himself in Angel’s life. Despite this decision, Connor showed up to the battle anyway and helped Angel battle Marcus Hamilton. Angel sent Connor home and the battle continued without him.
Now, Connor is having a bit of an internal struggle. He’s been trying to live a normal life with his civilian family, but knowing that the entire thing is a lie is making it difficult to accept. He’s currently a student at Stanford University and he’s trying to keep up with his education. Although he may seem well-adjusted on the surface, he’s having an internal conflict and trying to figure out which identity is his true self. He’s currently trying to decide whether he should try working with Angel or not.

THE CIVILIAN
PERSONALITY:
At the core, Connor is a methodical and analytical individual. He likes to step back and examine things and he’s very observant. He’s highly intelligent, excelling at anything he has a desire to learn, and he’s generally fairly introverted. He doesn’t like being told what to do and prefers to make up his own mind about things. He has a dry sense of humor that’s an acquired taste. He gets bored and restless easily, so he likes to always be doing something. He’s determined and strong willed. Once he makes up his mind about something it’s very difficult to make him think differently. When he has a goal he’s working toward he’ll stop at nothing to achieve it.
Mentally, Connor is coming from a place where he feels more connected to his civilian life than his supernatural life. He’s fairly level-headed and well-adjusted. He has a generally positive and hopeful outlook. He tends to make friends easily and doesn’t have many enemies. However, since the return of his memories Connor has taken on a few other personality aspects. He’s developed a temper that is triggered by certain things. He has disturbing thoughts and nightmares. He tends to get a bit obsessive about things and people and goes through bouts of insomnia, which don’t help his mental state. He’s become very introverted and has distanced himself from everybody he cares about from his civilian life. He has trouble making connections with new people. All of these things feel new to Connor even though they were originally a part of his personality, so he often gets scared and frustrated. It’s safe to say that at the moment Connor is mentally unstable and emotionally unpredictable.
Despite this inner turmoil, Connor is very skilled at hiding his emotions. In day to day interaction, Connor seems perfectly fine. He has a bounce in his step, he’s productive, and he has no trouble interacting with others. However, certain things trigger strange behavior, which is impossible not to notice.

WRITING SAMPLE:
Connor landed hard on his back, feeling the air rush out of his lungs. He fought the urge to lay there gasping and scrambled backwards instead, getting to his feet just as a large demon brought its massive foot down on the ground. Had Connor stayed where he was, he was pretty sure that foot would have caved his torso in, easily. Fear creeped up the back of his neck. He coughed and sputtered, trying to catch the breath he’d lost. He gripped the hilt of his dagger so tightly his knuckles hurt.
The heart, he thought. Get the heart. These things have a heart, right? Would it be in its chest? No, maybe not. Crap, where’s the heart?
His mind was racing and he could feel himself panicking. For a moment he couldn’t wrap his head around this situation. One minute he’d been walking home from the library, the next he was fighting this demon in some back alley. How did that happen? What the hell was he doing? This thing could snap him in half like a toothpick and he was going to kill it with a knife? A knife! That was what a dagger was, wasn’t it? A fancy knife? He needed to get the hell out of there!
As the demon lunged at him, Connor only had one thought in his head. Run.
Run run run run run…
But then another thought wedged its way into the succession. A thought that seemed to come from someone else’s head, it was so foreign at that moment. Kill.
Kill kill kill kill…
The movement couldn’t have taken more than a few seconds, but to Connor it seemed to happen in slow motion. He was aware of every move, every detail. The demon, all seven feet of its blue-gray form, came at him at a pace that seemed laughably slow. It’s clawed hands flailed in the air and Connor leaned back a few inches, dodging the attack. While the demon was too busy snarling and lunging again, Connor’s right hand moved with alarming speed to drive the dagger into the thing’s abdomen. It pierced the spot just below the ribcage, where the human diaphragm would be.
The demon made a gasping, gurgling noise as it stumbled backward. It grabbed at the hilt of the dagger, but keeled over before it could even pull it out.
Connor could only stare in shock and horror as the thing’s body seemed to liquefy into blue sludge. The dagger slowly fell to the ground, like it was working its way through molasses. He stepped forward to pick it up when a voice in his head stopped him.
Don’t.
He froze in a crouched position, his hand hovering just above the dagger. A sizzling sound made him look down at the sludge, where it had just touched the tip of his sneaker. Connor stood and staggered back, hurrying to kick off his shoe. Acidic. The thing’s blood was acidic?
“Jesus Christ,” he said.
He could hear the panic in his voice as he kicked off his disintegrating sneaker. It flew across the alley, bouncing off the wall of a brick building before landing in the sludge. Connor took off his other sneaker for symmetry’s sake. He was about to turn around and leave when it occurred to him he might have to explain to his parents why he only had one shoe. He tossed the good sneaker into the sludge, which had already begun to dissolve the other.
You forgot your shoes at the gym.
The excuse came naturally. He hadn’t gone to the gym, but his parents didn’t know that. He also didn’t normally lie about where he’d been so they’d have no reason not to believe him.
As he walked home in his socks, Connor tried to figure out what had just happened. He’d had no idea what that thing was when it attacked him, and yet somehow he’d known how to kill it. And he’d known not to go near the corpse. He hadn’t figured it out, he’d already known. He supposed he should have been used to that kind of thing by now, but it was still surprising when it happened.

the moment to live
AND THE MOMENT TO DIE
AND THE MOMENT TO DIE
What's your family like? That’s a loaded question. Can we just say dysfunctional and leave it at that?
Describe your ex in one word. Uh… I’m not sure she’s technically an ex yet… but she’s probably confused, so we’ll go with “confused.”
Describe your best friend in one word. I’m not sure I really have a best friend. What am I, six?
What's your current relationship status? Complicated.
How do you feel about that? Not great, but it could be worse.
Who's your celebrity crush? I have to pick just one?
What do you look like? Imagine the most conniving, deceitful but completely harmless looking chick you’ve ever met. She’s a petite blond, I guess probably considered pretty cute. Looks like a schoolgirl. Got a picture? Good. Now picture the most chiseled, badass guy who’s also the most miserable son of a bitch you’ve ever seen. He’s got the tall, dark and brooding thing down to a science. See him? Great. Now picture those two had a kid. I’ve been told I have the brooding thing down, but I guess I also look like a boyscout. I’m in good physical shape, muscular I guess, but not all huge and hulking. So I guess I got my dad’s badass wrapped in my mom’s package. So, yeah. I’m pretty awesome. Oh. You just wanted to know how I dress? Pretty nice, I guess. I have a lot of crap in my closet I’ve realized I don’t need. Maybe I’ll donate it to the homeless or something.
What do you think is your best physical feature? I’m getting some killer abs now that I’m training pretty regularly.
What do you think is your worst physical feature? I have one of those faces that makes me look a lot younger than I am. That kind of sucks sometimes.
Describe yourself in one word. Badass? Is that a word? How about awesome?
What's your favorite color? Green
What's your favorite article of clothing? I have this gray hoodie that’s pretty comfortable. Not sure where I got it.
How would you describe your fashion sense? I don’t really keep up with fashion anymore. I guess I don’t really care about who I’m wearing and whether or not it’s “popular” or “fashion-forward.” I have some nice stuff I wear sometimes, but I’m kind of cool with whatever’s comfortable and doesn’t make me look like a homeless guy.
How have others described your fashion sense? I don’t know. Don’t really care.
How's your hair today? Pretty good. I didn’t even need to use any gel in it this morning. I love having a good hair day. Gives me more time to do other things in the morning.
What would you say is your worst personality trait? Why would you ask me that? That’s kind of rude, but okay… I guess I have kind of an anger problem lately. I tend to snap at people for no apparent reason. Well, there’s always a reason, but they probably can’t see it.
What would you say is your best personality trait? You don’t really care, do you? Come on, we both know you’re only asking about my good qualities because you feel like a tool for asking about my bad qualities. Don’t worry, it’s cool. I get it. I don’t know, I’m pretty smart, but I try not to be obnoxious about it.
Do you like animals? Yeah, they’re cool I guess.
What's the last movie you saw? Too Fast Too Furious.
What did you think of it? It was alright. The plot was kind of lame and most of the stuff they did with the cars was totally impossible, but it looked really cool.
What's the last book you read? Slaughterhouse V by Kurt Vonnegut
How did you feel about it? It was really confusing, but at least it was interesting.
What's the last song you heard? Something called Redneck Woman, I think.
Do you like it? Not really, but it’s stuck in my head so it must be catchy.
What TV shows do you watch? The Amazing Race, Alias, Fear Factor, Scrubs, Mythbusters, America’s Next Top Model. Hey, those chicks are hot and sometimes they’re practically naked.
If you could do any job in the world what would you do? Honestly, I have no idea.
Do you have any pets? Not that I know of.
What's your favorite scent? Anything baking, like cookies or muffins or something. Makes the whole house smell amazing for days. Lately I like the smell you get in wooded areas right after it rains. I never really noticed it before.
If you had an unlimited amount of money what would you do with it? Buy a house for my parents – my adoptive parents… my most recent set of adoptive parents. And I guess I’d have to get my sister a car, but it’d be a cheap one until she knows what she’s doing. I’d probably get myself a small place and whatever furniture I needed. Then I’d just use what I needed and probably donate a bunch of it.
When was the last time you cried and why? That’s a stupid question. What is it with you? Sorry, I guess I think that’s kind of a dick question to ask a guy. Uh… I can’t remember, to be honest. I mean, I remember crying, I just don’t really know why I was upset. It’s a little fuzzy.
Who do you relate to more, Batman or the Joker? Batman. Come on, the guy lost his parents when he was a kid, vowed revenge on the world, was kind of a recluse, had this older wiser guy trying to guide him in the right direction.
Do you drink? Officially? No, of course not.
Do you smoke? No.
If you're at a party what are you usually doing? Depends on who I’m with. Either hanging around talking to people or laying low and watching.
What is your perfect pizza? Pepperoni’s always good.
What is/was your best subject in school? I was pretty good at the science-oriented stuff.
How do/did you feel about school? Pretty good. I did okay, it was interesting. I like college better. There's a little more freedom.
Do you like to dance? Yeah, when I feel like it.
Have you ever been arrested? If so, what for? Uh… Not that I remember.
Do you have any phobias? I kind of have a thing about closed spaces. It’s pretty recent.
What's your favorite way to relax? Listening to music and working out.
