Mate, Date, or Suffocate?

There are a few different variations of this game, but here's the gist. You reply and have your character decide what their relationship is with the previous character that posted. It doesn't matter if they've met, if they're canon or original, etc. It's just a game, all in good fun. Additional commentary is welcome to explain your answer or just for the sake of commentary.

MATE = Friends, drinking buddies, allies, etc.
DATE = Flirtation, romantic connection, ex's, significant others, etc.
SUFFOCATE = Enemies, frienemies, rivals, etc.
